A family business for three generations. Built on strong traditional Catholic values, hard work, and complete trust in God. With the first generation coming from Poland; Benjamin and Stella Godlewsky started it all by buying a farm on Alphano Road in Great Meadows. The farm land is made up of rich black soil known as black muck. For many years the farm was run strictly as a wholesale produce farm. Growing a large variety of vegetables, celery, cabbage, lettuces, onions, chicory, escarole, carrots, beets, spinach, peppers, tomatoes and so much more. The Meadows was known for producing the most outstanding celery and onion crops.
Then in the late 70’s to early 80’s under the management of the late Joseph Godlewsky and his wife Genevieve and six children. He decided to change direction by branching off into another area of agriculture by including some horticulture. The idea came strictly out of necessity since the family farm was in jeopardy of being lost. Starting out with one greenhouse growing just some annual plants and some hanging baskets. In the proceeding years more greenhouses were added growing a larger selection of annuals, perennials, herbs, and vegetable plants, hanging baskets, mums, poinsettias and so much more. Now with 42 greenhouses in the fields besides the traditional vegetable crops, you’ll also see sod and cut flowers. The farm is open to the public selling both wholesale and retail.
